This is the first piece I wrote for the soundtrack; I think I actually began it while the bike race was going on in summer 2010. I used a repetitive left hand to symbolize the constant pedaling of the cyclist, and I used an airy right-hand melody to play the tune of an imagined phrase: "Take me away... Then take me home."
I actually recorded some violin and cello parts with the gracious talents of Lisa and Mary Barfield, respectively, and I painfully regret that I didn't get to work their parts into the piece in the way that they deserved.
That being said, I do like the way it turned out. It's the only track where I recorded the left and right hands separately, and I applied different effects to each. The left hand rumbles constantly underneath, providing the bass and rhythm, while the right hand melody floats above, calling softly.
